Yukie Wake
Yukie Wake* and Julia Hartmann (nee Williams) formed a piano duo in 1999 and were taken on by Maureen Lunn Management. They played together for eight years, travelling the world on P&O Cruise ships, giving classical piano duo recitals to passengers. They also gave many recitals in the UK including at St. Martin-in-the-Fields and at the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden. They gave a series of illustrated talks and recitals for the holiday company Saga.
*Yukie Wake is from Hiroshima, Japan. She graduated with first class honours
from Hiroshima Music High School. She then studied at the Kunitachi
College of Music in Tokyo where she gained a B.Mus Degree. She continued
her studies at the Royal College of Music in London under the guidance of
Simon Nicholls and Irina Zaritskaya where she followed the Advanced
Performance Course graduated with an ARCM PG Diploma. While there, she
was commended for her performance in the Kendall Taylor Beethoven
Competition and was awarded a distinction in her final performance
assessment. She took part in two international music masterclasses held in
Spain. She has given recitals in Japan, Singapore and the UK as a soloist
and in chamber music. Yukie also taught piano for over 10 years and works
as an accompanist.
